I have been invited to be part of an educational research delegation to South Africa! The U.S. and South Africa share similar struggles in educating our youth. The delegation will provide an opportunity for educators from the U.S. to learn firsthand how South Africa is addressing educational problems that are increasingly international in scope. The hope is that we can learn from each other and create possibilities for future collaborations.
Dr. Tambra O. Jackson is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Miami University (Oxford, OH); an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University; and a Ph.D. in Curriculum, Teaching, and Educational Policy from Michigan State University.
Dr. Jackson has been a professional educator for over 15 years. She considers herself to be a scholar-activist and is committed to social justice issues pertaining to the historical and contemporary oppression, miseducation, and liberation of children of color in U.S. schools.
I am returning to Africa! I leave tomorrow and I will be going to South Africa, Zambia & Botswana. I have re-opened my blog to post pictures and thoughts about my experience. Stay tuned...
